Single Awareness Day:

Happy Valentines Day everyone! I hope everyone had a great day! My first thoughts memories of Valentines Day consist of when I was in elementary school. Those were the good old days! Each person in the class would have a box or a bag that they had decorated, then each person would go around and give each person a valentine. I was so excited to get to see all of the cute different cards and to eat all of my candy! After I got home from school my family and I would go out to eat. My parents always got my sister and I each a little box of chocolate and a teddy bear or something cute. Those were the good 'ole days.

As many of you know, I do not have a boyfriend, nor did I have a valentine. Although I had neither of the two, I was not bitter about today as many single people are. I have many different veiws about Valentines Day. I feel as if women are special people, as are men, and relationships shouldn't need a special day to be celebrated. Relationships and love should be celebrated daily and not taken for granted because they are special. While I feel relationships should be celebrated daily, I think February 14th is a cute day full of love and happiness. Quite frankly I don't understand why people get so bitter about today. It should make them happy to see all of the happy couples and should give them hope that love does exist and it should give them something to look forward to. It's always nice to get presents, flowers, or candy or anything else that shows you that someone else is thinking about you. For those who do have a significant other, I hope you had a good day, and also for those of you who didn't.

So as I mentioned above, I did not have a "valentine". However, I did celebrate! I checked my box when I was at the house getting lunch and I had a surprise! It turns out that a friend of mine, Amy, had gotten me and our other friends a valentine and a bag full of candy! This made me smile and remember back when. After that I went home and was anticipating dinner. Tonight at the sorority house we had a nice dinner. The meal consisted of a ceasar salad, trail mix, steak, a baked potato, brocoli, a roll, a piece of chocolate cake, and a chocolate covered strawberry. I can't even begin to describe how good it was! Let me just say that by the end of the meal I was stuffed, and my stomach still aches a little bit! While at dinner a fraternity brought AXO a red velvet cake! The same fraternity also made each girl a valentine which was also adorable! Another fraternity brought us a cookie cake, which was so cute as well! I guess you could say I had a pretty awesome day.

For all of those who have a valentine I hope you had a good day. For those of you who don't, I also wish ya'll had a good day too. There is no need to be bitter or upset about a day like today, you have to make the most out of what you have and have fun with it!

"The Lord is righteous in all his ways and loving toward all he has made."
Psalm 145:17
