So today was the day I turned nineteen. If you know me well enough, then you know I haven't really liked to throw a party for my birthday since I was, well, about ten years old. I like to celebrate, but just with my family and occasionally a small dinner with a few friends. Since I'm not one to throw a big party, my day was just like any other day, attending classes and doing a little homework. Though many people would think that school + a birthday = a wretched time, I had a great day!
It was good to get "happy birthday!" texts and notifications on facebook from everyone. I had the chance to talk to and hear from a lot of old friends which made me smile. Along with hearing from friends I got calls from family members in Kentucky and it is always nice to talk to them.
As stated above I like to be with my family for my birthday. Seeing as how my birthday is on a Tuesday and basically in the middle of the week this year, my parents drove up last weekend to celebrate. Today I celebrated with my sister, Morgan. She ended up getting me a cookie cake--which is delicious--and a personalized sweater that I have been wanting!
Call me lame if you want, it is only 9:30 P.M. on my birthday and I am already tired and wanting to be in my nice, cozy, warm bed. Though it is early, hey, it's my birthday and I can do what I want!
Today is also a half way marker for the rest of the month of April. In exactly two weeks, I will officially be done with my first year of a Freshman at Florida State. How does it feel? Ask me that in two weeks. I am so excited and ready for summer, it is almost unhealthy! Also coming up in the month of April is Easter of course! I am excited to get to attend my church and some of it's Holy Week festivities. Easter is one of my favorite holidays!
Now to a different note: A few days ago I was talking to my cousin Jerica and we were having a heart to heart. She told me to go read her blog and when I did I felt so much better. It was based around the following passage:
I needed those verses more than anything! It is never the easiest thing to stay happy. Life happens and I get down at times, but like the passage above says, I should "rejoice always"--no matter what the situation, good or bad. Also like the verse above says "pray continually." This is so important. To have a relationship with God like I should, I need to be communicating with him constantly and feeling his presence in and around me. And finally, "give thanks in all circumstances." At times, things may happen and I may not be completely happy with the outcome, but I need to remember that God sees the bigger picture and always has my best interest at heart.Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances. For this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
This basically sums up my weekend and my week so far. I hope ya'll enjoyed reading! Check back randomly throughout the rest of the month for posts. I had planned on writing everyday, but as you can tell, my blogging hasn't turned out like I had imagined!
