Power of Prayer

I know it has been a while since I have posted. I've been so busy with life (taking 18 hrs, taking the GRE, applying to grad schools, and applying to jobs) that I haven't had time. Though I've been busy, this post has been weighing on my mind.

I'm sure we've all heard the saying "When it rains, it pours." Translation: when things go bad it seems like nothing, not one thing goes right. Personally I know how it feels, but there is hope. Psalm 66:19-20 says "But God has surely listened and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!" God does hear our prayers, and he always answers them. Though we may not always get the answer we wanted, he does answer our prayers and he has a reason for the answer he gives us, even if we don't yet see it.

I've always believed that God answers prayers. From the time I was little, even in preschool, I can remember praying. My eyes were opened even more about two months ago when I read the book Heaven is For Real. The book is truly amazing, and one of the topics that it talks about it prayer. The book is about a little boy who dies, or has a near death experience. Prayer is a key theme throughout the book.

Some people reading this may be thinking about how big or small their problems are. I saw something on Pinterest today that said, "If we were all to throw our problems in a pile, we would pull our own back out." I've learned over the years that even though my problems seem so great, there is someone else out there fighting a harder battle than I am. I am truly blessed and have so much to be thankful for. No matter how big or small the trials you face are, whether it be a sickness or so much as finding a parking spot while running late, if you pray God will hear and answer your prayers as long as you have faith and believe.

Although there are so many great Bible verses about prayer, I would like to end with this one:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:6-7
